Program Overview

What is our Called to Lead Fund?

Whole School Leadership Institute’s (WSLI) Called to Lead Fund ensures that qualified school leaders and aspiring leaders seeking leadership development can pursue their goals, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Called to Lead Scholarships cover full or partial school leadership course tuition or special projects for school leaders who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), or those who have significant financial hardship.

What does a Called to Lead Scholarship cover?

There are two options for a Called to Lead Scholarship:

  • WSLI’s School Leadership: Transforming Self, Community, & Society course.

    • Total course tuition is $8,400.

    • Course books are not covered by this scholarship.

    • For virtual participants, Module 6 is held in-person, travel expenses are not covered.

    • An eligible candidate must hold at least a bachelor's degree.

    • This is a two-year course. Scholarship recipients will be awarded course tuition for one year at a time and must reapply for year two to ensure the financial need is still present.

    • WSLI course graduation qualifies candidates for a Leadership Certificate from Loyola University of Maryland’s Graduate School of Montessori Studies and also satisfies the entrance requirement for their Evergreen online M.Ed. program

  • Special Project.

    • Current WSLI students or alumni may apply annually for funding for a special project that aligns with Whole School Leadership's vision of transforming self, community, and society.

    • In order to complete this special project, training from another organization may be required. If you are applying for a tuition scholarship from another organization, you must provide the name of the training organization, the name of the course, the cost, and documentation of the course's goals and outcomes via a link to their website or uploading related documents. Course books are not covered by the scholarship.

    • Special projects must directly impact you and your school community in a significant way. The special project funding is for one year. Any further funding requires a reapplication. A report is required at the end of the funding period as to the results of the project and projected implications of the impact anticipated from the project in the future.

    • If you are applying for a tuition scholarship from another organization, you must provide the name of the training organization, the name of the course, the cost, and documentation of the course's goals and outcomes via a link to their website or uploading related documents.
